Blake Rowell, LGC

About

Blake Rowell, LGC, is a licensed genetic counselor specializing in cancer genetics who joined University Hospitals in August 2025. Rowell is also a Clinical Instructor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. A member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors since late 2023, Rowell obtained certification with the American Board of Genetic Counseling in August 2025.

In her role as a genetic counselor at University Hospitals, Rowell provides comprehensive genetic risk assessment, counseling and testing coordination for patients and families with hereditary cancer predisposition; interprets complex genetic test results and communicates implications for cancer surveillance, management and family risk; collaborates closely with oncologists, surgeons and multidisciplinary tumor boards to integrate genetics into patient care and treatment planning; and delivers patient-centered counseling that emphasizes psychosocial support, informed decision-making and health literacy.

Rowell attended The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio), where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology (minor in developmental psychology) in 2023. She went on to earn her Master of Science in genetic counseling at The Ohio State University in 2025.

Prior to joining University Hospitals, Rowell’s professional experience included serving as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for Cancer Genetics at Mount Carmel Health System (Columbus, Ohio) from August 2022 to August 2023. Her prior clinical experience in genetic counseling also included rotations at OhioHealth Maternal Fetal Medicine; Nationwide Children's Hospital (Hematology, Oncology & Blood and Marrow Transplant, and Specialty Pediatrics); Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary, Breast and General Cancer); and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Adult Medical Genetics).
